Food Shortages
What will society be able to do with the food shortage crisis growing ramped throughout the world?
Because of the war brought upon by Putin, the food shortages we have seen starting from the pandemic, have worsened. The world has a pandemic crisis that brought on a lot of chaos and to add fire to the flame, Putin and the Russian army attacked Ukraine in the month of February.
Food shortage is something that is not just affecting one country, but instead the whole world. It is almost as if we are living in an end times movie with all the disturbing incidents happening consecutively across the world. The question is when does it end? The war has not stopped and Covid 19 is here to stay.
Ukraine and Russia are two countries where a lot of imports are distributed. The average person does not think of the impact that war brings. According to President Biden “Both Ukraine and Russia are the bread baskets of wheat.” This solidifies the importance of the two countries imports to the world.
With all the shortages occurring, you would think that we were in World War III. Looking at the food shortages that started before the war would make you question; Did Putin understand with his war humanity would suffer more than they already have been?
When you have a crisis like this, of course the poor will suffer the most. Now, it is hard to even receive baby formula because that too is having shortage issues. It is drastic seeing mothers suffer and must try to find a way to receive baby formula from a different region because she does not have enough milk to feed her baby. The crisis worsens by the day.
Both Russia and Ukraine are known for their grain. With the two in battle at war, it drives up the prices of wheat. The creation of supply chain issues is making it difficult for the world to receive its supplies with most people not knowing who to blame. President Biden putting sanctions on Russia has its benefits, but it also has disadvantages when the West depends on Russia and Ukraine’s resources. It got worse when Putin decided he would return the favor by doing the same. With so much going on, how will we respond to the food crisis in the world?
